A group of Suffolk schools received a top accolade at an annual college awards ceremony.

The Seckford Education Trust received the ‘Large Non-Land Based Employer of the Year’ prize at the 2019 Easton and Otley College Apprenticeship Awards.

The occasion took place at Wingfield Barns near Stradbroke on Wednesday 7 March 2019 during an event that occurred amidst a campaign called National Apprenticeship Week.

23 awards were given to employers, individuals and tutors in front of around 150 guests.

The chair of governors of the college (Mark Pendlington) and principal, Jane Townsend took on master of ceremony duties.

During the occasion, Miss Townsend, said, “This evening is one of those moments where all of us get to share some of our student and employer experiences and achievements with a huge sense of pride. Congratulations to the Seckford Education Trust on this award – and indeed all of our winners on their successes.”

David Lees is the Headteacher of Saxmundham and Beccles Free Schools who are part of the Seckford Education Trust. He said, “We work hard to promote apprenticeships within our schools so we are delighted to be recognised by gaining this award.”
